Ansen Neil

Our not so little boy is finally here! Ansen was born at 10:50 pm on Jan. 27. He weighed 9 lbs and was 20.5 inches long. Not as big as his sister but he was a week early!

And here's the story behind his birth:

On Jan. 7 I went into preterm labor caused by a UTI. After 8 hours of monitoring and fluids I was sent home. 2 weeks later I started getting contractions~it just happened to be the worst day to travel and I was getting worried as the contractions started to get closer as the roads were awful and we'd be safer delivering at home than travelling. Troy started reading up on it. About 3 hours into, all stopped.

At my 39 week appointment, we reminded the doc that we were 110 miles away and the other hospital was 86 miles; plus there was another winter storm coming in a few days. They decided to induce that afternoon. I was admitted at4 pm and they gave me my first does of Cervidex (or something similar) around 6 pm. The doc was then going home and would break my water in the morning.

2 hours later my water broke and I was at a 5. The nurse called the doc back in. My contractions picked up and were right on top of each other. I started an IV of fluids to prep for my epidural. The anatesioligst (sp) was just down stairs and should be up in 20 minutes I was told. 45 minutes later he arrives making it about 10:15-10:30pm. I was yelling at him to hurry up but he insisted to wait for the alcohol to dry on my back. (Standard I'm sure but I didn't want to wait!) As I leaned forward for the numbing shot, little Ansen decided to fall into place and the anasteiologist was whisked out of the room and Ansen was born with NO drugs! OUCH!!! He was very alert and cried ALOT (well for about 20 minutes)! But then he was given back to me and we both felt better. :) He took to nursing well and sleeps like a newborn (every 2 hours).

I developed Mastitis 3-4 days later but after antibiotics that healed. Kaylei has really taken to her baby brother and showers him with love at every available moment. She likes to hold him and have him sit by her in the bouncy seat. She is currently taking a nap next to his bassinet.

Here are some photos from the last week and a half. Enjoy!

Tomboy Gone Girly

Little Miss Kaylei has turned into a girly girl. She must pick out her clothes without ANY help and the outfit MUST contain a skirt or dress so she can be "beautiful!" She also must change in privacy. Once this is done, she MUST show you how her underwear matches her pants which matches her shirt which then matches her socks. For example: "I have pink on my panties and pink on my pants and the purple here matches my skirt and the black on my skirt matches the black on my shirt and socks" As long as it's not too oddly matched I just let her wear her creation. She also insists on doing her own hair. She wears a headband with several clips and always has a clip in the middle of her forhead. Here's a picture of Kaylei outside with her snowman in one of her infamous outfits!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas 2010 was a great one at the Hinck's home. We had my (Alice) grandmother from Arizona and aunt from Rhode Island visit. It was also Kaylei's last Christmas as an only child which has been a bitter sweet realization for me so she got a big Christmas this year. She was thankful for everything and made time to play with EVERY toy she received. She was a trooper when she didn't get the one thing she asked for, no tears!

We took lots of pics and videos. Below is only a few of the 40ish pictures taken with my new flipshare camera. It takes video and then you plug it into your computer and take stillshots from the videos.

We hope the rest of our friends and family had a joyful and memorable Christmas. Have a safe rest of the year and Happy 2011 when it gets here!

Kaylei received a Dora umbrella from Troy's parents

This package kept getting flipped during the unwrapping process. Not by choice, it was a bit too heavy for Kaylei to handle and it kept flipping over :)

The best part of the gift is the box! Kaylei received cross country skis from her pop-pop and the box fit her perfectly. We were going to ship her back but changed our minds :)

Our Boy!

We are 34 weeks pregnant and expecting a boy by early February!
